If You are Having an Especially Difficult Day
« on: January 08, 2017, 01:28:35 PM »
OOTS is a fairly large board and sometimes posts can get missed, but if you are having an especially difficult day this is one sub-forum that is checked daily. So,  post here if that's the case and we will do our best to respond to you ASAP.  Please use this forum just for when you're having a truly hard day rather than the 'normally' difficult days we all have because we're struggling with Complex PTSD.

If you are thinking about suicide, please do not post about this (we don't allow posts about this as per our guidelines), but instead reach out to a trained professional in real life.  Help is available, you just have to pick up the phone and contact any of the following organizations:

The other thing we ask is to please do not include overly graphic detail in your posts as this can be very triggering for other members, all of whom are struggling with trauma themselves.  Include just enough detail to paint the picture and add a trigger warning if you're in doubt.

Thanks for respecting our guidelines,

Kizzie

When it comes to trauma, time does NOT heal all wounds. It is deeply embodied in our mind, body & spirit & requires compassionate, knowledgeable treatment & self-care.

If we want more/better trauma informed treatment & services, we must advocate for ourselves when & where we can.

Folks, the purpose of this forum is to make sure when a member is having a truly difficult day they get a response from at least one other member, hopefully more.  If you use this for issues and problems that are 'normal' for CPTSD, it will lose its value in helping others when things are particularly bad.

So, please save this specific forum for especially tough days when you need to be heard and really need a kind, supportive response or two.

Tks!

I'd like to emphasise what Kizzie wrote here since lately I seem to be moving posts off the Difficult Day board more than ever.

Think of Difficult Day as an emergency number / alarm button.

If you're not quite at that stage yet, try the Frustrated board http://cptsd.org/forum/index.php?board=50.0

If you want to vent or rant, maybe use your own Journal, or start one if you don't have one already.

Thanks

The question came up elsewhere on the forum: What do you do if every day is a difficult day? It would rather defeat the purpose of the Exceptionally Difficult Day board if everybody having a difficult day wrote on it everytime they were having a difficult day, especially if that were every day.

Sometimes on moderately difficult days, I read around the forum. It may seem like a waste of time, but it's better than self-harm or over-eating. If you're feeling more energetic, there is a ton of information on the forum, including tools to use to help us during bad days. Check out these Recovery Tools for example: http://cptsd.org/forum/index.php?topic=62.0

I suggested up above that mbrs can post on Frustrated if things are difficult, but that was just a suggestion. Suicide ideation and self harm belong on their own board!
