My boyfriend has PTSD and he says that his feelings for me go up and down, sometimes he feels worse in himself and they go down, sometimes he feels happier and they go up.

We're both new to PTSD and before PTSD we had a great 6 yr relationship.

Is it common with PTSD that feelings go up and down?

This forum is for people with CPTSD. Think of the C for "complex" standing for "cumulative" instead. Simple PTSD is from one traumatic event or the circumstances linked to a single event; ours is repeated, deliberate, interpersonal trauma where we were or felt captive and that our lives were at risk.

But, yes; my feelings can vary a great deal from day to day, but I always am aware that I love my husband. Many things can account for your boyfriend's feelings to vary, is he seeing a therapist? You also mention in a previous post that you were thinking of seeing someone - did you find a suitable counselor or therapist?
