Title: Any relation of CPTSD and shoplifting?
Post by: Audbod on August 28, 2019, 01:50:33 AM
Ok...I am new here. Spent a lifetime of being misdiagnosed...Bipolar, personality disorders, depression.
As you young girl after being sexually abused by my step father...reaching out for help to no avail...I started to shoplift. I got in trouble as a youth...but it has seemed even into adulthood...when I feel like my life is out of control...I repeat that old bad bad habit. Are the two related? Can anyone else relate? I am trying so hard to find a good therapist...but at times it seems impossible. Thoughts???

Welcome! Glad you're here

No insight into the shoplifting, but maladaptive behaviors, dysfunctional coping skills, etc are pretty common place here.

You say you've been misdiagnosed in the past, does that mean you now have a therapist who has diagnosed you with cptsd?

Welcome to the forum!  :heythere:

I've heard that shoplifting can be addictive. Addictive behaviours are commonplace here. They can and do lessen as healing takes place.
