Title: Too Much/Not Enough (poem)
Post by: rainydiary on August 06, 2021, 10:38:42 PM
I didn't have a particularly good day.  I am blaming myself for not better hiding my feelings.  I was punished growing up for showing too much emotion.  These words came to mind:

You were too silent
And your face too expressive

Your expression hid the truth
And your words revealed more than necessary

Your body said too little
Your body said it all

Why can't you get it right?
Why can't you make others feel good?
Why can't you just make nice?

Thanks, Rainydiary, for this reflection of the the senseless mixed-up messages that, sadly, were more the norm than the exception.

The worst outcome is the awful self-blame that you've been experiencing. I wish you well in turning the corner back to building the self-regard that was taken from you.

Woodsgnome - I appreciate you reading and responding.  I have some distance from the time I wrote this.  I am still in a time of transition but have taken steps to adjust course.

Tee - I appreciate the reminder others are with me.
