If you are looking for something uplifting, I enjoyed the animation film Ratatouille.
I loved "perfect days".
It is slow and sweet. With all the stress I like that. But if you are easily bored with slow arthouse movies, don't pick it. Not much happens.
I just watched "Perfect Days" last night. Absolutely adored it! A beautiful film. Dare I say it is about trauma? The comment of the sister about how their father is no longer "so extreme" makes me think of what their childhood might have been like, and what has given rise to this mans "simple" life. Beautiful.

It leaves a lot unsaid. I wondered too. It is nice how the focus is really on the simple (but solitary) beauty of his current life. With only hints to his past. After coming from a family where appearances mattered a lot, I have moved away and come to appreciate simplicity and slow living. So I empathised with him. :)
There's another one I like. Women talking. It's more explicitly about trauma. And has forgiveness & faith as a theme. From all angles, for example women expressing the sentiment of wanting to murder the abusers of them and their children, and seeking no contact as to protect their own integrity of character. Not just fluffy sweet stuff. It helped me a lot.

Yeah, the first one! I'm not so proud to say I was obsessed with that movie for a couple years and watched it over and over... funny, I'd forgotten all about that...
PapaCoco recently recommended "Manchester by the Sea" to me. I'll try and watch that tonight. But if I find it too triggering, I'll give Die Hard a go :)
There is a movie called Theater Camp which I love watching.
Some lovely recommendations here! Big fan of Ratatouille and Wall E, totally depends on my mood. If looking for something more serious, I would also recommend The Darkest Hour which I saw last week. It's about Churchill and WW2 in Britain and ultimately winning the war, incredible acting from Gary Oldman. I haven't seen Perfect Days but the plot looks very wholesome so will definitely add it to my weekend list! In terms of cinema I recently saw Moana 2 and Mufasa, both good but not as good as Pixar's best (above). I've also recently been getting into travel films, even classics like Eat, Pray, Love (little bit feminine but like a Bridget Jones vibe) and Into the Wild (bit more serious). Allll of these I would recommend! There's also a guy I follow called Facts and Footsteps (https://factsandfootsteps.com/) who travels around and when he's in a new place mentions movies that were filmed there and cool facts about them. He recently went to Tunisia and a lot of the Tatooine shots for the original Star Wars were filmed there. Also shout out to Bali and Eat, Pray, Love. Do you guys have a favorite film of all time you keep coming back to?
I watched Network because I read it from Pete's book. It makes me think of a lot of things. I reflected on how I should live my life instead of pouring so much emotion on tv and public figure's work.
