Title: OOTS Book Project - CLOSED
Post by: Kizzie on May 27, 2024, 05:55:46 PM
Hi Folks:

The book group are at the end of the book and we're looking for some more pieces between 1 and 5 paragraphs on the topic of hope and healing.  We want to end the book on a positive note so if you can help out we'd really appreciate it.  You don't have to be the best writer ever to do this, what we're looking for are authentic reflections about hope and healing. You are welcome to use your forum name, real name or a new pseudonym. (Note: Any proceeds from the book will be going toward the running and maintenance of OOTS.)

Please send your pieces to me at l.herod@yahoo.ca by June 9th if possible.

Many thanks!

Kizzie

There have been times when I'm sure I'd have been happy to join but atm I feel no hope and as if healing is going backwards, especially with all the physical stuff plaguing me, worrying me. If I get out of this funk in time, I'll contact you Kizzie.

For sure BB, tks. Sorry to hear you're in a funk at the moment.  Hard to keep returning to that place I know.

Kizzie,

I am willing to give it a go. It's a good plan to end on a positive note.

Thanks!

Just a quick note here that although we want to end with a measure of hope we also want it to be realistic abiut what hope and healing means with cptsd...in other words it is OK to write something even if a member doesn't think they will ever be completely healed and still struggle, we'd still welcome anyone's thoughts on the topic as it feels ok for them.

We do not wish to promote false positivity, just positivity in the cptsd frame. For me it's something along the lines of acknowledging I still need intensive therapy and may for some time, acknowledging I still have gnarly flashbacks and symptoms, but also that I feel so so much better than I ever have before and would never go back to how I was before I started on the path toward healing.

Thanks Lakelynn, we appreciate it!

Good point Armee.  This isn't about false or toxic positivity which so many promote and we know does NOT work.  It's about dealing with the reality of CPTSD in hopeful and healing ways. For example, looking back and seeing how far you've come, or coming to a place where you know recovery is about managing your symptoms, not getting rid of them altogether. It can be about learning ways of managing narcissists with tools like grayrock and JADE, or stepping away from them (or  other abusers) entirely because you have to do so to have a healthier life. It can be laying charges against an abuser and going to court. It can be about stepping out of isolation and coming here out of isolation to share your experiences and belong to a community finally. Or it can be about committing to work with a therapist to help recognize triggers, reduce symptoms and lay the responsibility at the feet of those it belongs to.

All these things are about hope and healing.

Now that I've left my funk / EF, I might actually have a go. Unlikely to manage to start before June 9th, though. I'll see and I'll let you know Kizzie  :)

Thanks Kizzie, I am up to it, I think. Had a bit of a flashback and long sleep this afternoon but it wasn't connected to this at all.

Fortunately in your area of the world June 9th still has a good few hours of daytime left, so I think I'll be able to finish. At least I have started

Is there a deadline for this? I'd like to give it a go but I have exams tomorrow so cannot write today. If it's okay to write and send tomorrow (11th June), i will do so after my exams.

Blue Sky - If you feel up to it after exams please go ahead and make a contribution. Good luck on the exams!

Thanks to everyone who made a contribution to the Hope and Healing section of the book, we (the book group) appreciate it very much.  Once we have a next to final draft of the book/chapter, we'll send you each a copy so you can read it over.

Here's to raising awareness about Complex Relational Trauma!
