I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, adult rape, extreme physical, mental, emotional abuse from childhood and from a covert narcissistic, alcoholic spouse of 10 years. I am 50 yrs old. I was finally properly diagnosed a year ago with CPTSD. I am in counseling, working my hiney off and proud of the steps I have taken to get to the place I am now. It has been a hard road. I am just a few days away from my 1 yr anniversary of removing the narc completely from my life. It took a court ordered PFA (protection from abuse) and years of documenting the abuse to get the court order. I am eagerly awaiting the finalization of the divorce. I am so glad I found this community! I am finding it validating and helpful. I have been isolated from my family and am finally able to reconnect with them. Having their nurturing support has been a blessing, though they try to understand, they really can't relate to the abuse I have suffered.
Thanks for your encouragement!
