Title: Shrinking the inner critic
Post by: Rainagain on December 19, 2017, 09:39:46 PM
I've just read the Pete walker piece.

Up to now I didn't understand what was meant by inner critic.

I now see I do all of those things to myself all the time.

Its sad to realise, but for some reason it made me laugh aloud.....

Another jigsaw piece.

Yes, I've laughed because of the joy of discovery of something. I remember laughing like that a lot at Pete Walker's book and also "The Body Keeps The Score". :)

And now I have just read the article on pathologising language.

Betrayal, of course.

I experienced a mix of threat and betrayal from different sources.

I always try to explain it was the harm from those meant to help that caused the damage and its hard for people to understand.

Its betrayal, that is the key.

I knew what had caused the harm to me but hadn't differentiated it from other threat by looking at it as betrayal.

I know stuff inside but if I see a good explanation it falls into place for me.

I should read that article because the word "betrayal" often turns up my head. A current theme.

Its betrayal that makes the harm worse and more difficult to accept.

I felt it as worse but hadn't got to the reason until reading the article.
