Title: Info about Eating Issues Relating to Trauma
Post by: Kizzie on December 09, 2018, 07:40:13 PM
The Second Assault  (https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2015/12/sexual-abuse-victims-obesity/420186/) - "Victims of childhood sexual abuse are far more likely to become obese adults. New research shows that early trauma is so damaging that it can disrupt a person's entire psychology and metabolism."

Great article although it's not just sexual abuse that can lead to obesity, it's all forms of abuse/neglect as a child based on the academic literature (http://www.outofthestorm.website/academic-articles/) anyway.

Good article, but I am sad they don't mention whether or not it's possible to reverse the effects trauma has on metabolism.

I haven't read the article, Sceal, but I would imagine it is possible, just in the way it's possible to reverse all sorts of physical problems caused by cptsd. But it probably also varies by person.  Physical ailments were among the first symptoms of mine to mostly clear up. For other people other things clear up faster, at least that's my impression from reading on here.

It talks about that childhood trauma, particularly SA trauma, changes the biologically effects within the body. So that people who have been eating normal portions their entire life might also have struggled with obesity. Although, most of the article is about Eating disorder in relation childhood trauma, they mentioned this one lady who hasn't had any eating disorder, if I remember correctly.
