Title: Lockdown, head down, read the stoics
Post by: jamesG.1 on June 14, 2020, 07:42:02 AM
Not much time or space for reflection in all this strangeness, but hey... talk about a test.

It won't last forever guys... tough it out and take the best lessons with you.

Personally, it's the lack of personal space that's impacting me, four of us in a small house, raining outside and relentless stressful news from outside. I can do it, but would much rather not be doing it. In some ways the fact that it is so not what I should be doing at least forces me to build defences I didn't know I could build and in many ways, there's a dividend there. But it's the strength from dissociation, and we know where that goes.

Tough it out, then start living. That's my mantra.

Also, I'm researching the Stoics for a project on the side, and I have to say... wow... dammit that's powerful stuff. Marcus Aurelius... what a guy. Highly recommended. We can't control other people, but we can control our reactions to them... if we want.

keep safe and keep calm.

Yes, same here. Even with one having some time in school this week, that means the school run again. Trying to have 25 minutes to listen to a meditation, someone comes in, argh.

I too have Marcus Aurelius, there is much to learn from him and the 12 step group I can no longer access as there is no guaranteed privacy when the Zoom meetings are on.

You are not alone.
