Title: Survival tips
Post by: LittleBird on December 30, 2017, 08:09:46 PM
I thought it would be cool to have a board of mostly positive lists and recommendations. Maybe that wouldn't work here but I liked the thought  :)

My recommendation is chocolate cake and silly cat videos.

Is that what you had in mind?  Maybe not, but it's hard to go wrong with chocolate cake and silly cat videos.

Also, if you haven't read My Grandmother Asked me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman, you might want to look into.  I thought it was very good.

I like big dogs being mauled by tiny kittens on utube.

Good idea Littlebird  There are actually a number of boards like that, eg. The Healing Porch, Three Good Things a day, and a few on the Cafe like Things I like about myself, Today I achieved...., I'm Grateful for.
With all of these boards / threads, you're concentrating on the positives, which I've been told is a very important counter-balance to all the abuse we're often remembering or experiencing. It's good for rewiring our brains.

Mostly positive lists are likely to contain suggestions that are actually the opposite for some people. e.g. chocolate cake is not a good idea for those of us who overeat to compensate for feelings. For me, it wouldn't even have been a good suggestion when I was essentially anorexic. No offense, Kat. If it's not your problem you wouldn't think of it.

This board might be more what you're thinking of LittleBird: http://outofthefog.net/C-PTSD/forum/index.php?board=49.0 While I was checking that out, I noticed this compilation work of Kizzie's that I really recommend: http://outofthefog.net/C-PTSD/forum/index.php?topic=62.0

Please have a look at these suggestions and let me know on this thread if one of these fits the bill for you.  :)

No offense taken, Blueberry.  Thanks for your insight.   :)
