Some kind of exercises that will aid in digging deeper with the self exploration and touch into feelings. For example, a friend has been tasked with writing a letter to her mother, which she'll never send, but that type of thing has to be healing (and hey, I think I may try that).

Writing is helpful, but sometimes it would help to have an assignment or a topic, direction, etc., or even some subject to think about with the purpose of aiding healing. Art therapy sites are good for that, but I'm looking for ways to keep focused and keep working. Reading and therapy are good, but I need another direction of push. Does that make sense? I suppose there are probably a few websites if no books, specifically.
I don't have a quote...just wanted to reply & couldn't find any reply spot.  Perhaps Pete Walker's book, The Tao of Fully Feeling would help...his guide to feeling genuine sorrow for one's self & all one has gone thru has been helpful for me.  Also, the book by Sebern Fisher entitled Neurofeedback in the treatment of developmental trauma is very in-depth & has been helpful for me.

Thank you for your note.  I thought I was clear about what I was doing...not to tell anyone else what to do b/c,  believe me, I do realize that each of us is different & need to explore things for ourselves to see how things work & each of us is at a different place &/or age in our healing journey.  I would never suggest that anyone leave any condition untreated.   ;)

I'm so sorry for your experiences w/ EF's.  The brain is involved w/ everything anyone has suffered in the past or is suffering in the present.  One thing that has helped me, besides asking the Lord for His guidance is the neurofeedback sessions.  Our brains need to be retrained.  You can find lots on NFB on youtube & google.

I am so sorry for your problem w/ sleep!  I can relate but I have found some help.  I do take tryptophan (around 6 of them( & also a supplement w/ calcium, magnesium, zinc (4 of them)  I use cedarwood essential oil on my feet, hands, hand, arms, sometimes w/ lavender or orange oil.  I also have neurofeedback treatments & you can find lots of info. of neurofeedback on youtube & google so I think that helps especially.  I do not take meds & would not.  Ck. w/ Dr. Peter Breggin online & see why it is dangerous to take psychotropic drugs & also how to safely get off of any of them.  Blessings to you.  Donna

Hello,
I am new here but I read your distressing note about anxiety relief so I thought I would share what has helped me.  I am so sorry for your distressing journey towards healing.  I know that can be frustrating.  Anxiety was my middle name for decades if you know what I mean.  I am not one for medications & would react to them anyway so thankfully I found neurofeedback!  You can find all kinds of good information about the neurofeedback to calm down your firing brain on youtube & in books.  Seburn Fisher & Bessel van der Kolk are two names I am familiar w/.  It's a brain thing & no matter how much psychotherapy you have or supplements you take ( I take a lot) the brain needs retraining.  Gaba (a supplement) does calm one down but it's not like the neurofeedback treatments.  It looks like you have suffered from & suffer from developmental trauma which is somewhat different from CPTSD.  A good book on that is Neurofeedback Treatment for Developmental Trauma by Sebern Fisher.  You can read a lot of it when you go to Amazon & check out the Look Inside feature.  My anxiety level definitely decreased after several treatments & I am doing much better as I continue w/ the brain training.  Blessings to you.
