Therapy / Panic attack after EMDR?

Even though my therapist was careful to bring me back to my comfort zone before I left this morning , (first session) IíAve been feeling very anxious since. Is this normal?

Thanks for the reply, Three Roses. There is some cold comfort in knowing that weíre not alone.😔

Frustrated? Set Backs? / DoníT know what to do...

Posting here to save the Ďexceptionally difficult dayí post. Guess Iím frustrated...frustrated, angry, totally demoralized, and by the very people I should be getting help from!

I know that itís difficult to find trauma therapy; I just started with a therapist now, been looking for two years (well, ten, but thatís another story).

Donít know for sure what itís like in the rest of the country, but in my end, Community Mental Health should be called Ďbarbed wire fenceí. Not only do they get it wrong, they make it harder to find help. After 45 years of Major Depression and Generalized Anxiety, a psych resident has just diagnosed me with dysthymia. What that means, in this context, is that theyíve washed their hands of me. (There, now heíll go away).

There is NO mental health care where I live, unless you can pay for it. With the taxes we pay in Canada, thatís a crime. To suggest to mentally ill people that they can get help and then callously ignore them is unforgivable...

Hi all. Yes, @Kizzie, had my appt. Too soon to comment. Part of my C-PTSD is trust issues. Iíll report when/if there are results. Have paid for therapy from four different therapists now with no improvement. Just as many shysters in that business as any other.

Glad to have found this place. Too painful to tell the whole story. Raised by an abusive single parent, married twice, NPD partners both times. Living somewhere (like most people) where trauma-focussed treatment is hard to find. Starting with new therapist this week. Feel as though it is too late but still trying. Will report. Namaste.

Might want to add to resources for finding a therapist.

Thanks Three Roses, but I am in the east of my country and canít afford to move, even for health reasons. The only listings are for the Ďhaveí parts of the country where I donít live. No work in four years, turned down for disability, social assistance. Savings almost gone. Thanks for trying🙏🏼

Have asked my GP repeatedly. All he says is ďGee, wish there was something I could do for youĒ. Doesnít say much for him as a GP but, Iím sorry to say, thatís the state of health care here.

Hello. I have been lurking for a while (have serious trust and privacy issue). Canít hold back any longer, have to ask the question...does anybody else have seizures/convulsions when your anxiety levels get high? Itís getting so bad for me most nights I have to eat out of a package or a can (shakes too bad to use a knife). TIA for any input...
