You posted an intro, and now you are gone.

It is the holidays, so the lack of response was not you, but simply the holiday season.

Please rejoin OOTS, and leave us an introduction again.   Also, please leave out the graphic body part terms as that is triggering for members.  It makes it hard for members to reply when they are triggered.

We would be honored to have you here at OOTS, Phoebe.     Please return.

NSC - Negative Self-Concept / Shame
November 26, 2014, 03:21:05 PM
I woke up this morning thinking about the topic of shame.

I was also thinking of what Pete Walker says is core issue which is emotional abandonment.

I imagine the emotional abandonment causes the shame.

Shame is the rejection of who we are.

NSC - Negative Self-Concept / Acceptance and Love
October 05, 2014, 02:42:26 PM
I've been combining Pete Walker's "shrinking the Inner Critic" with bringing love in to replace the negative self talk.   Use whatever "Love" author / teacher you resonate with.  (Katie's "Love What Is" method had interesting concepts from what I read on the Amazon preview).

Pete has wonderful info on shrinking the Inner Critic at www.pete-walker.com.

I can then start to accept the reality in front of me and let the LOVE in ...accept and love myself ...accept and love "what is," exactly as it is.    Negative to positive thinking.  It is choosing to love.

The Cafe / Who Are You?
September 29, 2014, 04:05:35 PM
I am adding a topic to the Café for us to share those very simple things we discover about ourselves that we DO love in our lives, such as what soda do you enjoy?

I love grape soda poured over vanilla ice cream! What is your favorite soda, or drink?

How many Inner Critics does it take to screw in a light bulb?

None.   The light bulb ran away.

Emotional Abuse / "Just" emotional abuse
September 23, 2014, 02:21:28 PM
My childhood was a vacuum of what of was emotionally needed.

I am grateful to Pete Walker to detail this in his Surviving to Thriving book, that the core of abuse is emotional abuse for us all.   I did not have the outer layers of abuse that make me gasp and cry when I read many of the stories detailing sexual, physical abuse here at OOTS.
