Hello. I have been lurking for a while (have serious trust and privacy issue). Can't hold back any longer, have to ask the question...does anybody else have seizures/convulsions when your anxiety levels get high? It's getting so bad for me most nights I have to eat out of a package or a can (shakes too bad to use a knife). TIA for any input...

Three Roses

Hello, nice to "meet" you... I've heard of seizures in people who's experienced trauma but I myself don't have them. In case you didn't feel like looking it up, I've found an article for you. I hope you find it helpful.

Hi and a warm welcome SadOldMan - It may be what Three Roses has suggested - Psychogenic Non-epileptic Seizures/Non Epileptic Attack Disorder (PNES/NEAD).  This is the description from our Glossary:

Seizures which present as epileptic but do not show similar changes in brain wave activity when recorded by an EEG.  These non-epileptic seizures are triggered by extreme emotion, thus they are psychological versus physiological in nature. See "Psychogenic Non-epileptic Seizures: A Guide" (2014) by Dr. L. Myers {https://www.amazon.com/Psychogenic-Non-epileptic-Seizures-Lorna-Myers/dp/1492881414/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1390824900&sr=1-2) or the PNES web site (see http://www.nonepilepticseizures.com/index.php).

It might be an idea to see your GP and get checked out.

Have asked my GP repeatedly. All he says is "Gee, wish there was something I could do for you". Doesn't say much for him as a GP but, I'm sorry to say, that's the state of health care here.

That makes me feel angry and sad, SOM. But many of us have hit roadblocks when seeking care, and have come here for ideas. I'm sorry your GP is so clueless. Here's a link to where to find help for PNES - (within the website Kizzie linked you to  - http://www.nonepilepticseizures.com/epilepsy-psychogenic-NES-information-referral-sites.php

Thanks Three Roses, but I am in the east of my country and can't afford to move, even for health reasons. The only listings are for the 'have' parts of the country where I don't live. No work in four years, turned down for disability, social assistance. Savings almost gone. Thanks for trying🙏🏼

Hey

Glad you have posted, though lurking is fine too!

I don't have the sort of seizures you describe but I get catatonic type lost time episodes which I was going to get examined, but it never happened cos of health care issues.

Possible epilepsy or narcolepsy but i know its stress and mental switch off due to exhaustion or overwhelm really.

Anyway, it's not the same but its unsettling enough. Good news though, mostly i don't know it's happened.....

My savings running out too, that's another constant stressor.

Hey Rainagain. When mine started they were just tremors, became seizures. Now I have'em almost everyday and I blackout too. Have fallen and hit my head twice!! Thanks for your comment, hope things improve for you ✌🏼
