Here It Goes...

Hello, Everyone!
I keep writing, overthinking, and rewriting an intro.... but I've decided to just wing it, so here it goes:

I was diagnosed with having C-PTSD (due to several forms of abuse from both parents, other relatives, and then re-enacting a lot of trauma through many relationships) almost 15 years ago. I have made very little progress on really working on my trauma factor due to also living with mental illness and those diagnoses getting more of the spotlight. I'm realizing more and more that the trauma is the part that really should have gotten the spotlight and this year I have decided to become a lot more proactive in terms of healing. I don't really have any support in my life and am very isolated, but I came across this website while trying to design a self-help plan. Reading through some of the posts I could see a lot of myself in the experiences many of you have been brave enough to share and it felt like a community I would like to be a part of, both to support and be supported. So, thank you for what you have shared. I look forward to getting to know you all and healing together.

Not Alone

fakeplastictrees, Welcome.  :heythere:

Great that you're becoming more proactive in your healing. The group of caring, understanding, supportive people on this forum have been a large part of my support system.

Welcome! This is definitely a supportive bunch, I'm so glad I found this place.  Hopefully you will too. :)

I'm glad you found the strength to write an introduction. I can relate to you saying other diagnoses took the spotlight. It can be quite a maze to get to the bottom of things. I hope being part of a group can help you to feel less isolated.

Welcome. :)

Good job on your intro, and welcome! :) It sounds like things are difficult for you right now with so little support, but it is great that you are taking steps to improve your situation and yourself.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, everyone! I still need to learn my way around message boards that I actually know when there is a reply.... I also wish I could figure out how to reply to each response, or at the very least a "heart" button :)

Looking forward to getting to know you all on our journeys to healing! <3

Hey FPT - You can click on the "Notify" button right beside reply on the lower right or you can click on "Updated topics" on the upper right to see if there are any replies.

Unfortunately you can't reply to individual posts on this platform. What most people do is reply in one post and name to whom they are responding.

Hope this helps  :)

Welcome! Happy to see you here! Hope you can find support on your journey here on this forum! I know I have!  :grouphug:

Welcome!!  I can sure relate to the other diagnoses taking center stage, until I finally realized with help that they were pretty much symptoms of my trauma and that as I processed that the symptoms decreased in severity (didn't go away but much more manageable).  I don't know if your situation is like that but I wish for you that it is and your strength and courage in being proactive in healing from your trauma will help you on all levels.
Looking forward to hearing more from you on the boards.

Hi FakeplasticTrees!

Isn't it amazing to know there are so many people who get it here? Looking forward to getting to know you and to being able to support you a bit on your path.
