I have just watched all 3 series of The Bear. It is not an educational resource. I have heard some describe it as a comedy. Indeed, I believe the producers of the show claim it as such. It certainly has some comedic moments, which it sorely needs or it would be too exhausting to watch.

Basically it is an exposition of CPTSD in action and I found it stunningly well observed. Some episodes were total car crash TV. Maybe people who have not had our experiences would not get the full truth being told, but I found it viciously and painfully accurate. One episode had me in tears throughout.

I don't know why the producers choose to bill it as comedy. I wonder if they are hiding their own trauma behind that title.

Anyway, if anyone else has watched it I would love to know what you think.

I do recommend it - but prepare for emotional upheaval if you do. I had to laugh at the viewer advisories about stuff like swearing, substance abuse and smoking. They are the least of it!
