Hi all,
New here and also new to the CPTSD diagnosis.
Kinda scared about what happens next.

I was in gen counselling on and off since 11. Last lot actually helped somewhat - aged 24.
Been on meds for the past 3 years, which help to a certain extent. They keep me in work at least.
I was in CBT until last week, to work through the continuous cycle of negative thinking and associated behaviours.
Now my CBT counsellor says I have complex PTSD.
Never heard of it - researched it (as you do) - and voila!
Turns out this is the deal. This is me. Everything I read fits exactly. Quite a strange experience.
Anyway, currently awaiting my community MH team assessment and whatever treatment they suggest.
Love talking about my past over and over to various different health profs *rolls eyes*.
Still... positive about the prospect of recovery.

Just glad to have found this forum.
Hope you all are well.

Hello and welcome! This forum is awesome - I love the support everyone gives.

http://pete-walker.com/index.htm has great info. His book, "Complex PTSD: From Surviving To Thriving" was literally life changing for me. Bessel van Der Kolk's book, "The Body Keeps The Score", is available online to listen to https://youtu.be/Q9Nlrtq4mi4 It is long but well worth the time! So much info on different therapies, and how to make sure you're getting help that is lasting.

Glad you're here!

Thank you Three Roses :)
I think the more information the better at the moment. It's a little daunting not knowing.
Anticipating the future has always been a struggle for me because I tend to assume at the worst possible outcomes. Trying to keep positive.

Thanks again x

Hi and a very warm welcome Nemo  :heythere:   You are definitely in good company here and I hope that helps with feeling scared, even if just a bit.

Glad you found your way here

Thank you Kizzie :)
Trying to be brave. It's good knowing there is support other than through weekly sessions with a professional out there.
