Sliceoflife

Greetings!

Mid 30's guy here, I just found this forum today and I thought I would read and maybe learn something from your experiences here.  I've been working on PTSD/C-PTSD for about 6 months now.  It started when I became flooded while having dinner with my wife and I finally decided I should see someone.  I went thinking that I needed to deal with issues related to military service and came to find out that it was much more complex and that my childhood (alcoholic parents and other issues) were directly related to all of the problems I'm struggling with.  I'm currently working on narrative therapy and I've already learned some things about myself that were quite surprising and I haven't even gone past five years old.  If anyone has any suggestions of posts I should read or anything else, let me know.

Hi, welcome Sliceoflife! Glad you've joined us.

Pete Walker has a book on cptsd called "From Surviving To Thriving" that many of us here have read and re-read. Lots of great info. There is also pete-walker.com.

I think it's important that you take your time, and move at your own pace. Don't rush, altho it's tempting, as some of this is downright uncomfortable. ;)

hey, sliceoflife,

glad you found us.  there is so much here on so many levels, i think if you just do a little cruising, see what's here, read what sounds interesting to you you'll get ideas for and about yourself and what you may want to learn more about.  like 3 roses said, take your time - it's your recovery.  we're here for you.

Welcome sliceoflife. The military stuff is tough on top of the childhood stuff but good to hear you are seeking all resources.
