Greetings everyone,

I wanted to spread the word about a fantastic and inexpensive way to access online news, entertainment, and quality programming. Thirteen is affiliated with the WNET, https://www.wnet.org/ otherwise known as Media with Impact in the Public Broadcasting sector.

For as little as a $5 donation a month, you can watch a wide variety of programs: PBS Newshour, American Masters, Nature, Great Performances, NOVA, NYC-Arts, Masterpiece Theater, and documentary specials, to name a few.

Each month, you receive a small program booklet with programming information, including radio programing. Usually that month's upcoming special is featured on the cover. I don't recall how I learned about this, but it is really wonderful to have alternatives to Netflix and Amazon. Plus, inevitably, you learn something you didn't know. It's great for kids, with a lot of children's programming too.

Since it is out of New York, the main focus is naturally on New York, but not always. The e-mail support is responsive if you have a problem of any kind. It can be used with the mobile Thirteen app too. So you can watch on a desktop, Roku or similar player, as well as a phone or tablet.

Check it out because it can be a painless way to learn about history, the wider world and current events.
