Today the good news came that i have been awarded disability benefit (pip - personal independence payment) UK .
I was assessed and awarded 8 points : for eating , dressing , washing and social . Such a weight has been lifted re finances and i shall also get an enhancement on my universal credit under severe disability .
To have both the financial support and recognition of disability is so great and the fact i dont need to go through the appeal process which so many do.
I was slightly disgruntled that my psychological and cognitive difficulties were not hitting points more but hey the threshold is high and I'll take what i have been given with gratitude .
I hope my experience can benefit someone else as i learn some things and gained informed.awareness of how the system is

Not Alone

:cheer: Glad that has taken some of the stress off of your shoulders.

Thank you all :)
Im going to buy a new bike (mountain so i can finally go down hills, feel reasonably safe and enjoy the thrill of freedom :)
Also go on a 12step convention with fellows later in the year to a spa hotel and beach resort in Spain ...

Blessed +++
I know its not everyones story and i am fortunate. Suddenly the past 2 years has resulted in joy ...the struggle has lessened . and i do feel stronger for it

Been a bit tricky this WK...needed to go and present my tenancy agreement at the job center for the ongoing saga of getting council tax reduction (so grateful my money situation isn't relying on this ...
Got triggered in the center (women was kind to me)sent me.into overwhelm and the weight of doing what's required with the UK government . im trying hard not to have ill feeling towards them after all they are paying for me to live ...
But i do need to share that the system is so crazily flawed. The benefit i got awarded is under the same dept as this current award im.applying for  (depart of work and pensions)i am currently filling out the form  yet i need to start a whole new process.
Its stressful. i really have discovered that anything performance wise is such a stressor for me ...i def have less tolerance for stress these days but that's OK i can hold myself loving in this space.
Im so pleased that i came across a site called 'benefits and work'. My love of forums started here and this other forum is so good. It is ran by a lawyer and case worker and so has so much inside information down to what handbook the assessors use to case law when people need to to appeal and go to tribunal. basically the DWP arnt following the law at ground level in many ways ...
I've got in contact with my mental health nurse this WK who has written me a specific report stating why im not fit for any work related activity eg cv building etc and i have also left messages for the consultant if he can do the same.  i feel sure to go for the exceptional circumstances criteria of 'any work relates activity would put a significant risk on my mental health '.
If im.put in the work related activity group ill have to jump some hoops to take actions (with the same amount of basically money i get now (not enough to live on ) and if i get into the support group there will be no expectations on me and my money will double.
In so many ways i just want to be the other side of this process and just be in recovery ...just taking care of what i need without the stress ....i look forward to that day :)
To add my nursing union have been fantastic and also i am going to citizens advice on monday where i have an appointment with a specialist to fill out the assessment ..

It boggles my mind that in the midst of struggling with debilitating mental health issues, survivors have to jump thru hoops,  fill out forms, etc and all too often without much help. I'm glad to see there are a few sources of info, support and admin help for you Boats. I'd sure love to see more of this type of  help for survivors with respect to disability, housing, legal, family needs, etc., all the things that are so difficult to manage when you're just trying to get out of bed in the morning.

I hope that day comes soon
