The Trauma Informed Law Project is a web site created and run by lawyer Helgi Maki who practises in both Canada and the US.  She describes TIL as follows:

The story behind this project on trauma-informed law is a series of informal discussions with therapists, psychiatrists, lawyers, paralegals, legal clinics and people affected by trauma such as victims of crime indicating that while awareness of the importance of trauma-informed resources has spread among other service types,  trauma awareness is not yet sufficiently developed or studied in the legal profession.  Trauma awareness is an important issue for a essential legal services and legal professionals who are prone to high stress levels and burnout.  And it is a particularly important issue for the clients and victims who depend upon the legal system to provide justice, and not exacerbate or ignore trauma.
