Curious about FOOs
« on: November 02, 2019, 04:36:21 AM »
I hope this is okay to ask. Let me know if not...
I was wondering if it's common for those with CPTSD to have parents with relationship troubles? If that makes sense. For example, splitting, divorce, etc.
Personally I was born to a single mother after my biological father left her. My mother threatened divorce with my step father many times and constantly moved in and out with him.

Regards,
Complex.

  • CPTSD is an injury, not an illness.

I think it's probably fairly common. Narcissism, alcoholism, mental illness and other issues are common in cptsd-inducing families. Children get stuck in the middle. Just my opinion tho.  :bigwink:

When I saw "relationship troubles", I thought of something different. I thought of what I experienced growing up: parents with glaring problems within their marriage (and each his/her own too), problems that are never directly examined, addressed or solved. So parents unhappy, unfulfilled, bursting with anger, and 'needing' a scapegoat.

I imagine relationship troubles of either type are fairly common among our FOOs.
