Participants Needed for Trauma Survey
« on: February 25, 2020, 08:27:22 PM »
Hi Everyone:

I had the following request from Roxanne Kerr, a trauma therapist with Helix Therapies in Scotland.  She is looking for participants for a survey she is conducting to gather data from trauma survivors:

I am a trauma therapist and currently looking to develop a holistic and collaborative service which would be free to everyone who has experienced some form of trauma (Ranging from military to childhood abuse to illness and bereavement etc). As well as providing therapy, I would like the service to offer opportunities for training and personal development and the chance for people to shape the future of services and understanding of trauma through participation in research. In order to get this up and running and make it a reality, I need some data to prove that there is a need for this type of project and as such I have created a survey in order to capture this data. I was wondering whether there was anyway to share this information on your website or forum? While the service is based in Scotland, I am looking to hear from anyone regardless of location.

If you can spare 20-30 minutes to take the survey it would be much appreciated, even if you are not from Scotland.  I have asked Roxanne to share her findings with us and will post them on our Research page for others to read and draw from.  The survey is anonymous.

Roxanne sent me an email this morning asking for volunteers to participate in Phase 2 of the project she is running. If you can help out, please follow the instructions outlined below.  Tks!
**************************************

I am a trauma therapist based in Central Scotland and some of you will have recently seen a post from me asking people to complete a survey. The reason for this survey is that we are hoping to develop a charitable organisation which will offer free therapy for people whose mental health is suffering from traumatic experiences.

We want to involve survivors of trauma as much as possible and the next stage of our project is to run some face to face discussion groups to help shape the charity even further.

We will be running online groups on the following dates:

13th April @7pm (GMT) For trauma survivors based in any location- While you wont be able to access the service if you are not based in Scotland, we still feel that your experience and knowledge will be hugely valuable in terms of helping others.

15th April @7pm- Specifically for survivors residing in Scotland

To get involved or to find out more, please join our Facegroup page for updates and joining instructions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/671587103580870/

Our plan is is to also offer some free therapy spaces for trauma survivors as soon as it is safe to do so.

These spaces will be limited and at the moment will also only be offered to people on a low income. We hope however that once we become a properly established organisation, that this will change as we believe that mental health support should be free for all regardless of your income. Please get in touch if you would like more information on this service.

We would massively appreciate it, if you could share this so that we can reach as much people as possible.

Thank you
