I want to add another to the list:

It's okay to wake up after scary dreams, to feel scared and like you can't perform at your best. You don't need to worry about letting others down whilst in the state. You don't have to worry about feeling better immediately so then you can start listening, helping and solving other people's (very adult) issues. In fact, you don't have to worry about doing that at all, its not your job or responsibility. After bad dreams, you can lie here in bed, and I'll wrap a comfort blanket around you, with your favourite teddy, and you can snuggle up. When you want to eat or do something else, let me know, there is no rush at all.

I know this situation is scary and new, I know you don't like sudden changes. Do you remember the last time we had to deal with a sudden change? I'll be right by your side in this.
