My Husband had a Stroke
« on: August 29, 2020, 01:24:32 PM »
He is in ICU, stable but intubated and sedated and it's horrifying to see and deal with.  I am coping but could really use some care and support.   :'(

Kizzie- I am sorry to hear this news.  I am thinking of you and sending you strength and energy.  I spent a lot of time in an ICU last November and found that taking moments one at a time got me through.  You are supported in this time.

  • CPTSD is an injury, not an illness.

Oh, Kizzie 💔💔💔 so very sorry to hear this! It's so difficult when our partners suffer these things - we can feel so very helpless. You're in our thoughts - and prayers.

Oh Kizzie I am so sorry to hear this.  I am sending you the biggest hug

It is difficult to see our loved ones like this, and being there to support them is very draining.  Sending you strength and support. X

So sorry Kizzie, I saw your tweet but I have a private account and you would not have seen my response there. How are things today for you both?

Thank you all for your kind posts, they mean a lot.  I am not one to reach out but thought to myself it's time to do so, this is another step in my recovery and so here I am.

My H has made some hopeful progress and had the breathing tube taken out and is not sedated.  He's not fully there yet which they tell me is normal but he is responding to our questions, etc with a nod or hand wave. He has some issues which will keep him in ICU for another few days but then once those things are managed he will move to the stroke unit. I'm just grateful he's alive to be honest, as is our son.

I am doing fairly well all things considered, the 'up' side of having CPTSD is that I do deal with real life stresses like this quite well, it's the trauma ghosts I have trouble with. I don't want to put on too brave a face as that's not good as a survivor either, but so far I am coping.

Tks again everyone, the support and care is so helpful
