I wanted a mom
Not a psychopath

I wanted to be loved unconditionally
I wanted to be believed
I wanted a cheerleader
I wanted to be nurtured
I wanted to be held
I wanted to be important in her eyes
I wanted to feel special

I wanted a mom
Just any regular mom would do

I wanted a Dad
Not a self-righteous *.

I wanted a role model
I wanted to be taught.
I wanted him to be proud of me
I wanted to be believed in
I wanted a friend
I wanted to look up to him
I wanted protection.

I wanted a dad
Just any regular dad would do

I wanted parents
But I have none

Just the pain of being unloved
Of being hurt, of being rejected
The feeling never leaves.
Why did they hate me?
Why did they try to kill me?
Why did they try to destroy my family?
Why did they not love me?

I wanted parents
Any old parents would do

Not Alone

As I read your heartbreaking poem, in my head a was thinking, "You deserved to be loved unconditionally. You deserved to be believed. You deserved. . . "

I appreciate you sharing this Phil.  It resonates with me.  I like how you named what you wanted too.

You deserved so much better.
I wish you could have had a nice ordinary Mum and dad.
Thanks so much for sharing your poetry, it's really appreciated
