Hello,

I made it! Phew!

This is a big step for me to reach out for community and connection. I'm happy I'm doing it. It's been a looong time. I'm starting EMDR (after many years of other types of therapy) and know it will be activating for me. I don't want to be alone in my experience of trauma symptoms anymore. Thanks for starting this group, thanks to everyone for showing up. We are better together :)

Not sure what to do next - there's lots of info on this site.

G and G, welcome! You will find people here who care and understand your struggles.

Golds and Greens,

Congratulations on making this big step. I remember once reading a quote that has stuck with me for decades: "And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." ― Anaïs Nin. By your introductory post, it feels like your time to blossom has come.

I know the feeling of finally reaching out for connection when it just became too painful to keep it all inside. I'm happy for you that, as you said, you've "...made it! Phew!"

Little2Nothing is right, you will find people who care and understand here. We all came from different backgrounds, and somehow, we all ended up here, and even with our different histories and backstories, we all seem to understand what it feels like to be in each other's shoes today.

As far as not knowing what to do next, just write what you feel like writing, and read what piques your interest. A lot of us on this forum talk about how we have different moods at different times. Whatever interests you on any given day is what you ought to spend your time writing or reading about.

And when it comes to sharing your own stories, I hope you never feel obligated to share more than you want to. Share what you feel compelled to share. no more and no less. This is a place of safety.

Welcome to this community!

Hey golds and greens, your name is intriguing and I'm very curious of its origins.
You are definitely not alone here on this forum.

Thanks everyone- it's so nice to reach out and get a warm welcome :) I really appreciate it!

Someone asked about the names golds and greens - it comes from a beautiful song by Allison Russell called Nightflyer. I changed it a bit. It also reminds me of the gold/green colour of spring trees.
