Hi,

I got officially diagnosed with  C-PTSD about 18 months ago after nearly 24 years in and out of mental health services. I've had other unhelpful and incorrect diagnoses over the years but it was only when I was finally brave enough and felt safe enough to disclose my extensive trauma history that things started to improve for me. I'm now in therapy and on the right medication for the worst of my symptoms and with a lot of hard work I finally feel like I'm starting to really make progress.

It's really good to be here amongst people who understand the daily struggle with C-PTSD and I look forward to being a part of this community.

Hey Kitz,
Welcome to the forum. It definitely can be terrifying but the only way we can manage our trauma is by exploring it. At least this process does get easier over time, like with most skills - it develops with practice. Hope you enjoy your time here.

Regards,
Aphotic.

Hello Kitz, I can relate, I've also tried different things before but nothing really sticked. It's only when we start to let others (and ourselves) know what actually happened and how this affects us, that we can begin to heal somewhat and we can let ourselves be supported by others. Glad you're here.

Welcome Kitz,

I'm glad you are finding things that are helping. Healing from lifelong trauma disorders is best done as a multipronged approach: the right meds, the right therapies, the right books, and having a support network. This forum is filled with loving people who already understand each other. I'm glad you found it!

Welcome!
