Hi group,
After my therapist recommended bilateral stimulation music, I wondered how it was different from another type of music I've tried, binaural beats.  Both are best heard with headphones.

Bilateral Stimulation Music
Example from Destined Dynamics
  • Purpose:  Improve left-right brain communication, like other bilateral stimulation methods.
  • Sound:  There is a rhythmic ticking that goes back and forth between the left and right sides, with soothing synthesizer music.

Binaural Beats Music
Example from SleepTube
  • Purpose:  Promote brain waves in the meditative range (alpha, theta, delta) by using different Hertz in different ears.  The brain detects the difference between the two Hertz, which elicits the lower brain waves... at least as I understand it!
  • Sound:  Just soothing and soft.  I thought I would hear something like two tracks at the same time, but it's really not like that.

I learned something new today!
