Hi there,
Im in my late 30s and suffer from CPTSD after growing up with a narcissistic mother and agressive father.
I had been doing pretty good after 7 years of psychotherapy and a year of EMDR / IFS therapy and felt like I was making good progress.
However being broken up with by a partner who also suffers significant trauma triggered my first emotional flashback in a decade which has left me shaken and doubting my progress.
I have a good friends support network around me but looking for community from others who can relate to the CPTSD journey.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm very sorry to hear how this recent breakup is affecting you and your trauma triggers. I hope you feel comfortable finding support here on the forum. There are a lot of beautiful people here who know the ups and downs and ins and outs of the CPTSD healing journey.

They've brought me a lot of peace over the past few years. I hope you find the same to be true for you.

Welcome.

Welcome to OOTS. I'm glad you found us. I'm glad you have been doing therapy and have been making good progress. I'm sorry to hear you had an EF after such a long gap - I can see how that may have really taken you by surprise. I'm glad you have a good network of friends and I hope it will soon become clear again that you have made good progress in spite of this EF. A break up is a major thing to deal with for anyone, whether or not they have CPTSD.

Welcome Raleigh,

Yes, a break up can cause major problems. You've invested in yourself so consistently and developed a support network that it will provide a net of sorts so you can stay "afloat."

This is a good and understanding community who have been dealing with cPTSD a long while. You might find exactly what you're looking for. Take good care of yourself with compassion and kindness.
