I am new to this site, and have the tendency to be alone with myself (both online and elsewhere) so I might make mistakes and I'm finding the acronyms difficult. I'm not sure if there are going to be any triggers in this, It seems like anything could be a trigger because we all have different sensitivities and struggles. I've had various diagnoses given to me since I was 18, I'm currently not in the mental health system because I'm tired of taking all sorts of prescription medicine. CPTSD seems to fit since I've been doing reading ... but if I don't fit in here then it would be good if someone could pm me and let me know. Or really, if anyone has any problem, I'm out of practice socially.

Anyway, hi. :)

Hi, Quarry!

You are welcome on our forum.  Feel free to look around, and either respond or post if it is comfortable for you to do so.  Each of us here is also finding our way, healing at various rates, and nobody here will exclude you if you feel this is a good fit.

Many of us have found relief by reading the books and/or online material available on Pete Walker's website.  He is a psychotherapist who also has worked through his own cptsd.  You can find more in our Reference section.

Thanks for posting, and we look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Jdog,

Thanks for your welcome and reply. I have had a look around, took a while to decide whether or not to join (my fault: I get panicky and agonise over nothing), I'm hoping it will be a good fit. I have heard a bit about Pete Walker, thanks, I'll check out the reference section. :)

Hi Quarry

Welcome to Out of the Storm.

At OOTS, we welcome people who are dealing with cPTSD through a variety of life's events that befell us.
Quote"CPTSD seems to fit since I've been doing reading ... "
you said, and that's basically all that matters. To me it sounds your experiences fit quite OK. You don't have to pass any exam in order to qualify.  ;)
You may decide if you feel OK around here or not.
In any case: you are free to come and go as you please and feel comfortable with, and post a much or little as you want.

In the cPTSD Glossary you may find some information that might help you with figuring out the acronyms, and there is a list of Acronyms available as well.

Welcome again, I hope and wish this place and community will give you comfort and be of aid on your journey through cPTSD. We all make mistakes and you're entitled to a few of them as well.  ;) Our Guidelines for All Members and Guests may help you in keeping this a safe environment for you and us and to get an idea of the community we create with each other.

Looking forward to seeing you around,

Dutch Uncle.

Hi Dutch Uncle,

Thanks for the welcome and reply. The biggest problem I think is that I remember from about 12-13 up almost perfectly, anything below that there's a lot of blanks, but what people talk about on here and what I've read rings true for me.

So glad about not having to pass an exam! Am sick of education!  :stars:

Thanks for the list of acronyms, I've just had a look and they're already a big help. I've had a look at the Guidelines; they're reasonable and should be easy to follow. I know we all make mistakes sometimes, thanks for the reassurance. Thanks again for the welcome. :)
