Hi everyone! I'm going to tell you what got me diagnosed with PTSD, so...potential trigger warning!

I was abused physically and mentally by my mother until I finally stood up to her at 16. My father asked me to join the military after he was diagnosed with cancer. He died before I finished basic and tech training. I was raped at my first assignment...drugged and assualted. After hospitalization, I learned to cope...with alcohol and bad decisions. 10 years later, I was raped again...and have yet to recover. My PTSD leads to anxiety which leads to major depression. I got married to a narcissist who emotionally and physically abused me...my life fell apart.
I am trying to put the pieces back together. I am a civilian now. In school, holding a job and trying to make it work. I am on a few meds...and I talk to a social worker weekly, just to keep my head on straight.

Enough about me. I am glad I found this place. I needed to know I am not alone in this CPTSD world. Thank you.

You are most certainly not alone.  Thanks for sharing your experiences.  I'm glad you are seeing a support person on a regular basis.  Self care and compassion towards ourselves is so important.

Welcome!

I had similar experiences in the military as well.  I have been out for just over a year.  It sounds like you are being taken care of, I am.
