Three Roses

Hey there! I do or did a lot of the things you've mentioned.

I get smells that come to me from nowhere but I think they are more like a memory, a flashback. I wouldnt call them a hallucination. ;)

I wonder why you thought of the dog as not getting into heaven? was there religious stuff in your childhood?

I had dissociative amnesia too. Have recently (last few years, i'm 60) recovered some and filled missing parts of others.

That thing, "I'm here!" is one of my tools to do to fight off an EF. Other times it happens spontaneously, and i'm overcome with a sense of relief & thankfulness.

There are other things in your post that i identify with too! But what if you printed this out and took it into your T, and ask which one she feels is most important to start on first?

I'm glad you're here, no matter what name you choose for yourself. I like to change my profile a lot too, heh heh.

Wow, Sunrise, your post is heartbreakingly beautiful.

My mind is not all here right now. I'm very interested in your story. Thank you for your bravery in sharing. I wish you all the best. Please keep posting.

QuoteHow did you find it, recovering memories?

I was reading a book and I followed some of the exercises. It was an old book, and they either didn't know or didn't include the information that doing so on your own could cause more trauma, which happened to me. It really threw me into a tailspin, and several years later I feel I'm just coming out of it, with proper meds and therapy.

If you or anyone wants to work on recovering buried memories, please do not do without professional guidance.

:yeahthat: absolutely. The professional guidance needs to be trauma-informed too. It shouldn't be just a once-off session either. Once you start opening the vaults it can take a bit of time for stuff to come up, but when it does, well, I've been bowled over more than once. Because I was put in situations by those who were either not trauma-informed or those who decided for some reason I didn't need trauma-informed support.

In fact what I needed to do before looking into too many memories was inner child work, discovering inner children who held good memories and good characteristics, strength. e.g. inner children who'd say "No!" while my Adult was not daring to. Again, that's all work I did with trauma-informed support.
