**TW** New anyone else also suffer from DID
« on: September 20, 2017, 04:53:57 PM »
After years of childhood trauma. I've been diagnosed with CPTSD, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Bipolar. (Physical, emotional, and sexual abuse) As an adult I drank to much and was sexually assaulted, and raped. Then 11 yrs ago I have someone I love medication and he killed himself. I drank more and gained over 100lbs. Then 7 yrs ago I took a bunch of 12 and 13 yr. Olds swimming and one drowned. I lost it after that. Had several surgeries I don't really remember. In fact I was remembering less and less. It affected my job, my life, and eventually had me contemplating suicide. I am working with a psychiatrist once a month and a psychologist 2x a week. I am looking at SSDI to have some financial support while I work on getting better. It's been a hard life, but I am fighting to get better. Thank you for listening to part of my story. Their is so much more, but Anyone else face similar trauma? Anyone file for SSDI before? It's very overwhelming. I've been working since I was 13yrs old. I'm 42 now. It feels like I'm giving up on being normal. My Dr. Says I won't ever be completely "normal" I will however be better. I just want to be a better me. Any comments are appreciated.

Hello and welcome, Amberwoowoo! It's so good that you've joined us here. I have found so much understanding and much-needed support here. Until i found this forum i felt like i was literally an alien among humans, and had never felt understood or even free to talk about my experiences in life without getting told to either "get over it", or be quiet, or some other unhelpful comment.

I am so sorry to hear the traumatic experiences you've been thru! You are a true survivor. I know others here have been diagnosed with some/all (and more) of what you've also been diagnosed with, but i will let them introduce themselves to you if they feel up to it. You are not alone.

I agree with your doctor, that you can get better - but "normal" is something i no longer aspire to. It's just a setting on my dryer now. Since joining this forum and entering therapy (which i've temporarily suspended) i have gained so much insight into CPTSD, and have felt so much better. I hope you have the same experience! thank you for joining us.

Oh my goodness, Amber, you've gone through so much! I'm so sorry to hear. You are a very strong individual for powering through all that!
It's good to hear you're getting therapy, nice to hear you're still fighting it!
And welcome to the forum. ^-^
